Education and Certifications
Minimum age of 18 years and one year of college experience, or 18 years old and comparable experience/maturity.
Junior counselors, under the age of 18, are accepted on a case-by-case basis, often having been long-term campers and Helpers, and/or with the recommendation of someone close to Woodbrooke.
Current certification by the American Red Cross in Standard First Aid and Child and Adult CPR by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, or the equivalent.
Current certification in areas in which he/she has responsibility for leading specialized activities (e.g. lifeguarding, canoeing, swim lessons), from a nationally-known certifying body.
Physical
Excellent physical and mental health, abundant energy, and a sense of humor.
Ability to walk distances of one or more miles on uneven, steep terrain.
Ability to tolerate heat and humidity, including during physical activity.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
